The Brief

Specialist Holidays Group (SHG) operates out of 23 source markets, selling around 750,000 holidays a year. SHG is a wholly owned subsidiary of TUI Travel PLC, the world’s leading leisure travel group which also includes brands such as Thomson, First Choice, LateRooms.com and Quark Exhibitions. SHG had redesigned six consumer and five agent sites for their flagship product Crystal Ski UK (www.crystalski.co.uk) in order to make them more responsive. They wanted to provide users and customers an optimal viewing experience. This meant easy reading and navigation with minimal resizing, panning and scrolling for a wide range of devices (from mobile phones, tablets to desktop computer monitors).

The sites were required to be tested within an aggressive timeline, in time for the client’s peak booking period.

Our Approach

Test Partners engaged a team of specialist testers to provide Functional and Compatibility testing, reporting directly to SHG’s Head of QA. A risk based testing approach was adopted, which prioritised all our testing activities. We were responsible for the development and execution of the test scripts and worked closely with the SHG’s in house development team. Daily status reporting was also provided, ensuring the project and our progress was clearly visible. It involved reporting on the defect status, risks and issues.

We identified a number of defects which were fixed by the developers for which we were then required to provide regression testing.

The Result

We completed the testing earlier than planned and within client’s keen timeline. The sites went live and were accessible via multiple O/S, devices and browsers.
